"Reminiscing back to the days of the early settlers in America, everything they did was for a specific purpose in sustaining their lives- whether it was for food, warmth, clothing or their homestead. The duck decoys were hand crafted as a tool to procure food. The degree of artistry that was involved in each carving depended on the carver as well as the region in which he hunted and the types of ducks that inhabited the area.
My early experiences in duck hunting along the coast of Maine coupled with my Art degree came together later in my life when I began to study the history, culture and methods of early decoy carvers. My inspiration primarily involves helping to preserve the heritage of this art form."
